John Eales (1970-present)
John Eales was born on the 27th of June, 1970 in Ashgrove, Brisbane, QLD, Australia. He was born to Jack and Rosa Eales. Jack worked as a school teacher at Marist Brothers College, Ashgrove and Rosa worked at home doing many things that a mum would do. John has four sisters and one brother.
At the age of 5 John attended Oxford Park Preschool, at that age he was so shy he left. When he was 7 he started rugby union at the Ashgrove Emus. Later in 1981 John attended Marist Brothers College, that same year John started Rugby Union there.
After college John attended the University Of QLD and got a BA degree and also a double Major in Psychology. At the same University he was a great first grade cricket all-rounder player.
In 1990 John got a Best & Fairest Medal from playing rugby union in the QLD reds team. In 1991, he was also a member of victorious world cup side and debuted for Australia. In 1995, John got a players’ player of the year and again Best & Fairest medal. In 1996 John was made captain for Australia. In that same year he lead Australia into undefeated tours through Italy and the UK, where he met the Queen. In 1998 John lead the Bledisloe cup victory and won the Trinations rugby union series.
In 1998, his first son was born. His name was Elijah. In 1999, he married Lara and the year after they had a daughter and her name was Sophia. In 2001 he was captain for the Australia victory of the trinations. In 2002 he had a medal named after him, called the John Eales medal.
John Eales has now left rugby and is in the hall of fame. He is now a businessman, newspaper author and columnist. He is committed to cancer council and he helps out with rugby still living today. John Eales is a great man, he has done marvellous things and he has had an awesome life. Rugby Union is John’s passion and is why he is famous.
